Eagle

Eagle: A large bird of prey, which is the member of the bird family Accipitridae,
There are over 60 species, which occur mostly in Eurasia and Africa.
Outside this area, just two species (the Bald and Golden Eagles) can be found in the USA and Canada, nine more in Central and South America, and three in Australia.
Eagles have been used by many nations as a national symbol located on the crest of the nation.
You'll see the Eagle in some Christian churches, which is considered to represent the apostle John.
The eagle is a sacred bird in many cultures and the feathers of the eagle are central to many religious spiritual customs, especially amongst
Native Americans in the United States and First Nations in Canada, as well as among many of the peoples of Meso-America.
Eagle feathers are often used in various ceremonies and are used to honor noteworthy achievements and qualities such as exceptional leadership and bravery.

In the cultures of the Northwest Coast, Eagle is also a supernatural being and also the ancestor and features in the heraldic crests of important clans known as totem poles.

The Moche people of ancient Peru worshipped the eagle and often depicted eagles in their artwork.
Eagles commonly bear only one or two eggs in the clutch (number of eggs laid).
The first born, larger bird will also, commonly eat the younger.
This animal, as a magical symbol, appears more often than any other animal on the correspondences.
In this Symbolism it's second only to the serpent or snake. Ironically many species of eagle are preceded with snake, serpent, fish and hawk due to their hunting habits. Like
Fish-eagle, Snake-eagle, etc.
In it's relation to the first letter of the alphabet in Egyptian hieroglyphs it's of course, often seen carved into the walls of the pyramids and in Egyptian art and scrolls.
In these hieroglyphs it is also synonymous with vulture. Giving the meaning itself an important duality.
One that hunts down its prey and one that eats whatever found, already dead or dying for its survival.
These traits are natural within the species.
Eagle/Vulture is effectively portrayed in the Egyptian hieroglyph with a greater and a lesser meaning.

This should be considered.
Know that the card numbered Zero holds the basic essence of its essential presentation. That is to say it's either very close to greatness (Divinty) or very far from it.
Once again depending on how it's presented. In all these ways man is presented as well.
As the card holds an indication, in it, as with the meaning of the Higher Arcana, dealing with extravagance and extremes and how each particle gives force, ebb and flow to
another particle. In association to Air and Aspen we can consider the properties of each of these.
It's easy to see some immediate relations.
Like with the need for air itself here on Earth and as how all trees assist the oxygen content of the planet, for instance.
Some things need to be surveyed further to gain a deeper understanding of the nature of things.© Copyright 2000-2010 by Lance Reynard. All rights reserved.
