The Magician meaning in a reading of the Tarot.
"Self Confidence. Sureness of abilities. True Will. Application and responsibility of knowledge."
Since this is still only the beginning of this book. There are certain issues that I'll need to continue to address and clarify.
I might seem to be off on a tangent but without this clarification, once again, for many, the information would become more confusing instead of clearer.
If someone is interested in actually doing readings with Tarot cards it's advisable that the reader gets a specific idea about each one of the cards in the 78 card .
It's actually the origin of your standard deck of playing cards. The only difference from a standard deck of playing cards and the Tarot are the higher arcana and the princesses.
The higher arcana are known as the major secrets and there are twenty-two of them. It's what my cards are based on. Then there are the princess cards.
Which if they did exist in a regular deck of today's playing cards, would most likely be called the "Jackettes" or female Jack.
One other difference is the color of the spades (to yellow) and the color of the hearts (to blue.) This is all.
You see all of the other cards are the same/similar as the common 78 card Tarot deck.
When you subtract these (higher arcana) twenty-two cards you're left with fifty-six cards.
Then you take out the princess/jackette cards and have what we play with today, for our standard (52 card) deck of playing cards. This isn't a coincidence. It's evolution.
Earth, Air, Fire and Water are related to each suit. Clubs (earth), Spades (air), Diamonds (wands) and Hearts (cups).
One represents the material nature, earth. One represents the thinking nature, air. One represents the feeling nature, water. One represents the driving/forceful nature, fire.
Things-Thoughts-Emotions-Will. There are authors that will switch one for the other and that's their right.
I can't, personally see, how people mix these up but it's not my place to judge them.
Now back to the issue. Developing a secure knowledge is needed before actually using cards for readings. This is an acquired skill that takes time, study and practice to develop.
To come to an understanding with the particular card that's been selected or how the group of cards that have been thrown, all string together to speak a sentence or tell a story.
The development of this knowledge creates the certainty and personal self-confidence needed to actually decipher and speak the information that's most certainly being conveyed.
Otherwise you might as well just make up your own story because that's what you'll end up doing anyway. Without the training and/or experience.
I don't think it's a bad idea to help in gaining this knowledge to ask any question and draw one card from the deck. Any deck.
Draw a card and look at it.
Now determine the basics of the meaning of the card. Is it positive or negative? (As a starting point.)
True self confidence isn't just immediately gained but it's developed with practice and experience.
The first time you rode a bicycle. The first time you swam in the water. The first time you kissed someone. There's always a beginning that involves a lack of self-confidence.
In every case pre-training helps but it doesn't give you the experience. It only describes it. Until you actually DO IT do you begin the path of self-confidence.
If there's anything that you think/believe that you can do well then it's because you've proven to yourself that you're able to do it well.
In this way we evolve and create within ourselves a personal self-confidence and sureness of ability.
What is your will? What are you actually applying from the knowledge that you've gained or worked for?
What've you been avoiding or missing? Do you think you're better than everyone? Do you work to satisfy yourself or others? What are you mixing? Why?
These are all questions that are called for when this card (Magician) arises in a reading of the Tarot.
When this card's mixed with other cards they form a sentence in dealing with the subject matter concerning the issue that's being addressed.
Consider all of the particulars that are addressed on this card and how they meld together into a singular area concerning the cleansing and the use of applied knowledge.
