Owl, Ram

Owl: The owl is an interesting creature in the way it's built.

There are little hairs on the edges of their wings and this causes a more silent flight because it breaks the air with the flapping of the wings for swooping silently to its prey.

They are predatory birds and (commonly) feed only at night, well that's not really true.

The eye color will tell you if they are day feeders the lighter the eyes color the brighter they can handle.

Yellow eyes feed in daylight; dark brown or black feed only at night. Around 200 species the owl is another animal found all around the world.

Many are amazingly marked and blend in so well to their surroundings that they have to move to be able to tell them from their background.

By observing owls and their behavior you can see why they associate with wisdom but by many cultures they associated to death and destruction.

The owl was the Aztec bird of death and by many cultures is seen as a bad omen to be seen in the daylight but I see it differently as omens go.

I'll take it up with the next Aztec I talk to.

Ram: By watching animals and their behavior you can get a pretty good idea of how early man came to find these associations.

To watch a ram and the behavior it displays to protect it's territory and the way that it goes into a head on battle with its opponent gives you a good idea of how to do battle.

Of course it's a little different when you can walk on two legs and have opposable thumbs but the basics remain the same.

I'm sure people fought long before they considered the responses of nature but the given association to battle, territorial protection and pride seem pretty obvious for the ram.

I've just got to bring Aries into this for the reasons of similarity and association and the fact that it's the astrological symbol is listed on the card.

If you take the time to find Aries in the stars and notice whether or not Mars shows within the pattern, from your viewpoint on Earth.

This will be a good time for energy if you are an Aries sign but also good for Leo and Sagittarius.

But if you have a mix of the two it is even that much more intense.

The ram is used as a symbol here for its basic nature which would include more than just what it stands for symbolically but also how it behaves naturally in the wild.
