Zayin- Duck
The meaning of Zayin is sword and for good reason as the separation from one thing to another thing is the actual basic definition of scienceitself, to cleave or to separate.
Scious to cleave - to tell the difference between two things. If humans were unable to do this there would be a lot of goat-men running around.
You will notice that there are no children mentioned until the appearance of this card.
Part of this meaning is procreation but once again the obvious is not so obvious.
The sword has a great many connotations of power and strength also concerning proper decision making and drawing lines for control.
It is interesting that Venus and Mars fit as a relation to Gemini as a couple and the union of the two concludes an agreement and decision andso a line has been drawn to unite
these two separate things into one final unit. The lovers and sword also mix as the power of the union of two.
It is portrayed in many movies where the love of the one over comes all obstacles to save the loved one in danger.
This determination can also be seen as the sword of the lovers in that we have a feeling of gained power when we have the agreement of the other person to be together as a
couple. I can also say that it is more than just a feeling as the combinations of energies mix for different reasons but most commonly to get something done.
What are we going to do today? What do we need to attend to?
When this creative aspect is lacking the conversations can be far more mixed toward negative ends in criticism, gossip and arguments.
But if there is a positive thrust and ongoing creativity there is rarely more than a heated discussion or debate.
Duck is the phonetic symbol for Z in hieroglyphs and this seems odd to us but looking back to the time of the creation I'm sure it was quite common in the formation of the
language at that time.
As a race we are commonly confused due to non-exposure to a thing whether a culture or a food or a tradition when we are exposed tosomething that seems foreign to us we soon
discover that the motives behind the actions are not so different from our own.
Why a duck? Because that's what was selected as the final decision you might say that's where the line was drawn.
I could easily bring the life style of ducks and what sons were referred as and the similarities between the way the animal behaves and the cultures views at the time that all relate in
some way but I don't feel that would address the issue here as it stands as a symbol for a letter.
I can't think of any monuments where the rider was on the back of a duck or murals where the spearman was lancing a duck but again the point is that the Z is a duck form in
many hieroglyphs, but not all, depending on the time frame.
