Ergot and Ecbolics
Ecbolic: An ecbolic contracts the female uterus and is (commonly) used in a formula given to induce childbirth or abortion, either.
It makes me curious why the ecbolic would be set here as a relation to the rest of the card and its associations.
The birth of a child is really the issue although an ecbolic is used to contract the uterus or cause uterine contractions, which are either helpful ingiving birth or used for abortive reasons
or abortion. Here with this odd placement of this item we find either the family that comes closer together or the lovers that spilt up and deny the life or birthof the child, created by
their momentary desires.
It's the common denominator to our lives whether to do something that is creative, even though it's much more difficult, or to do something that is destructive, because it is the easier
path to take.
Sometimes this path is not so convenient but for the most part when we take the path of least resistance we are not always bringing good things towards ourselves and so often the path
that we once feared turned out to be pretty cool road to travel after all.
Things can seem to suddenly come upon our lives and we find ourselves with the need to make certain decisions that are not commonly easy to make and abortion is one of those that
are easy for some because they would never do it under any circumstance and others that have to wrestle with it as a moral issue because of the tremendous burden they think it would
have on their lives and yet others that have no problem with the idea and almost seem to do it as a part of their recreational activities.
I of course make a stand for helping any life or form of it the best that you can when needed without destroying your own conditions in the process.
But then I don't recall having a body that can carry a fetus and gestate the human body and so I have a limited to male view of things albeit expansive I can only relate to a certain
degree
and
have no place to judge others.
But the fact remains that the options are available as a primal nature within each of us because whether we contain the bodily abilities or not each of us feels the ability to reject or
accept whatever a thing may be.
Ergot: Ergot is another substance used for the restriction of blood flow and given also to cause uterine contractions and abortion.
It's a bit curious that the abortive qualities are attributed to a card called the Lover don't you think?
Apparently for centuries the use of abortive medicines has been in play and this is nothing new although still an issue after thousands of years and will probably remain one for as
many to come.
Ergot is actually not a plant but a fungus that grows on plants and causes many side effects aside from the restriction of blood flow like irrational behavior and hallucinations.
It is used to create LSD but has almost none in it. It has been used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease but found to cause problems with the heart. Used also for post-partum
hemorrhage relief and to treat severe migraines. The fungus grows on wheat and was a common poisoning causing sickness and death in the middle ages.
A great revolt sprang up in 1789 in France and had much to do with the stoned population of sharecroppers and farmers that would commonly toss the ergot infected plants away but
due to a food shortage consumed the infected plants instead.
Resulting in a lot of very sick and very stoned and frightened population that wanted to rid themselves of oppression and the obligations written down as duties to the present rulers
who were at the time the Catholic clergy and second the nobility eventually leading to the first Declaration of man and the rights of the citizen (Aug 26 1789) which involved many of
the precepts that were also written into the American Declaration of Independence, written 13 years earlier.
Ergot like many other plants in human history has played its part in the alteration of culture.
Many details are invisible to us as an actual existing type of cause in forms of political and cultural reconstruction.
I mean its not like you pass a wheat field and think of how that wheat got so many people so pissed and stoned that they overthrew the local government but this is the truth of culture
and the nature of our people.
When everything is fine we stay the course with little to no revolution in life but when things get tough we seek the changes for a better life then we act to change the way things are
and the funny thing is that without this fungus affecting all of these people I wonder if feudalism would be alive today?
Because back in France in 1789 that's how it was to end because of a little fungus, poor governing and fear.
