7_04.............Weapon: Furnace

You can of course see the furnace as the tool for forging weapons, tools and armor and I suppose one should ask the question if a tool can be

a weapon and the answer is easy.

The furnace could be also called the ancient television for obvious reasons and this is an essential way of looking at it from the viewpoint of

the magus (practitioner of magic).

Look back years ago before electricity and after fire and you will see nations sitting in the darkness staring at a fire I would suppose

conversations and stories accompanied the evenings events when there was a social or familial event occurring.

After you have built your hut or house you need the warmth of the fire to heat it at night or in the winter inside the domain so you bring fire

into your home.

It doesn't take long to notice either you can't breathe or the home is burning down and you realize you might need to contain and channel

it's smoke and heat and so the furnace began as a container for these things (smoke and heat).

So yes you cook your food with a weapon in the kitchen and you enjoy comfortable winter evenings cuddled up in front of the weapon in

the living room.

What you do with the containment of the heat makes all the difference in the world.

Are you cooking your lunch or your enemy?

The furnace as used for cooking, baking pottery, forging a sword, heating the home or any number of imagined uses.

It can be viewed also as the place from whence all physical life flows from as the center of the fire, contained, or the primal light.

We are seen as the light or fire within the essential body or furnace and these cryptic clues have been used as codes in the not too distant past

by certain secret organizations.

It has been said that staring into the flame is looking directly at the astral plane.

There it is and you can see into I and stare into the depth of the flame or fire itself and it is spell binding and always will be as it always has

been.

Pyromancy will be addressed later but comes up as a value here with the furnace.

This seems kind of lame but it is the essential focus onto the thing that invokes the generation of energy in some way.

Related to the difference between not paying any attention and paying very close attention so in a way the focus and attention can be seen as

the furnace of the ritual or that which sets the overall atmosphere.

The lantern and furnace are not exactly equitable as the furnace would supply a different overall atmosphere to the temple as a lantern would

be centered upon the temple alter to supply a message to the ritual.

It is interesting how the lantern holds the same basic functions in some ways but cannot be easily used in others.

Like it heats the air in the room as a furnace does but then try to cook with a lantern or temper a dagger or sword with the lantern and even

though these basic concepts seem like they do not apply to the subject matter I assure you that it is the differences that we are aware of

between things that give us our beginning to knowing you can say differentiation equates to power on all planes.

Now there are a million metaphors that I could bring up with pregnancy and life containment, birth and rebirth, creation and longevity, focus,

power containment and direction and many more that can relate to the furnace but the concepts that it holds for this assembly have been

addressed.
